Permanent makeup can be a great option for people who want to enhance their natural beauty, save time, and address cosmetic concerns. It's important to do your research and choose a qualified professional to ensure that the procedure is safe and effective.
Anyone who loves not being tied down to a beauty routine. It is especially good for people with active lifestyles who swim, hike, run, do yoga, or play tennis, and don’t want to worry about sweating off or reapplying makeup. People wearing contact lenses also love permanent makeup, as do people with allergies and skin sensitivities who might have trouble with cosmetic products. Additionally, women with alopecia (absence of hair), sparse or light eyelashes, or those with diminished vision who have trouble putting on regular makeup can benefit tremendously from permanent makeup.
Is That safe for everyone?
Yes, unless, you are pregnant or nursing or less than 18 years of age. Because permanent makeup requires proper sterilization and disinfection procedures, it is of the utmost importance that the permanent makeup artist/technician that you use be properly trained and certified
Does Permanent Makeup Interfere with any Medical Issues?
No. But the safe and approved iron oxides in the pigments may alter an MRI unless you tell your radiologist you’ve had this work done.
Is The Procedure Painful
Most people experience some discomfort. And while it can vary by individual, the level of discomfort tends to be minimal and is alleviated by a 2-step topical numbing process with anesthetics that are developed specifically for the permanent makeup industry. This ensures clients are as comfortable as possible.
Are There any Side Effects?
Generally speaking, no. However, you may be red and swollen for a few days after the procedure. Aftercare is simple, with over-the-counter ointments to keep the brow area from getting dry. Eyeliner patients must avoid wearing mascara for about a week. You should also avoid the sun or swimming in the ocean or chlorinated pools for a week.
Permanent makeup color will appear darker for the first 3-4 days then calms down to what was envisioned between yourself and the permanent makeup artist/technician. Minor peeling and tenderness during the 4-6-week healing phase is normal.
Is Permanent Makeup really Permanent?
Depending upon the individual, permanent makeup will soften and fade over the course of one to five years. Anti-aging creams (avoid Retin-A or alpha-hydroxyl acids), sun exposure, sweating, facials, and tanning beds accelerate fading. Getting a color boost every few years keeps your permanent makeup fresh. Fair complexioned clients usually need a color boost sooner than other individuals. Also, “hair stroke” brow tattoos need a touch-up every 6-12 months.
WHAT'S THE PROCESS INVOLVED IN GETTING PERMANENT MAKEUP?
On the day of the procedure—prior to doing anything permanent—we pencil in brows and liner to find the look that best suits you. Once we find the right shape and color, we start work with the digital machine. The procedure is usually complete in two hours. We take pre- and post-procedure photos so we can admire the difference we’ve made!
After you have had time to fully heal—usually 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure—we have a “perfection visit”. During this visit, we will ensure your healing has gone well and perform any necessary touch-ups.
Are all Permanent Makeup Artist/Technicians the same?
Unfortunately not. It is important to choose a technician carefully by considering training, experience, compliance with state and local laws, and the technician’s before and after photograph portfolio. Remember that the shape and proper placement of the procedure is as important as the right color. Professionals have studied color theory and skin undertones which results in the color requested. Unskilled people who have not pursued the required education do not have the knowledge required to translate pigment color to skin in order to achieve the desired outcome. The preferred look is obtained during the course of consultation, initial procedure and follow-up appointment(s). Interaction between the client and the technician is of utmost importance.
Remember also that permanent makeup is only safe if performed by a trained professional who follows proper disinfectant and sterilization requirements.
